Press Release Writing – Some Do’s and Don’ts!

Since journalists are the target audience for press releases, it is critical that we write press releases that media can understand. Pitch a relevant story that impacts the audience.

Get all the important information up front. Bullet points make it easier to understand. A catchy headline will say it all. Think like the audience and write what they would expect to know from the press release.

Keep it brief and to the point. A carefully written press release is based on facts and logical presentation. There is no room for exaggeration. Also, don’t try to hard sell your copy. It can be an absolute turn-off!
